2022 / Part of Line Series

Acrylic, Pencil, soft Indian cotton rag paper on conservation board

71.3 cm x 59.4 cm / ~ 28 x 23 in

There’s a line when everything seems to feel right. A little off, and things seem to be not quite how they should. The further away the more difficult it becomes to see it - ever elusive, ever so slight. And yet in moments when everything falls into place, the mind is at rest, and thoughts are clear, resolute and reassuring - we know we found the balance.

The Line series is building on the Fragments series’ foundation of expressing the state of overcoming mental health challenges through a subtle abstract expression of forms and colours detaching, shifting, overlapping, and reconnecting, adding a layer of communication through text. These brief statements reflect the fundamental questions, actions, consequences and decisions that are part of navigating one’s emotions and conflicts.

The artwork is sold unframed, however it is advisable to frame the artwork. You can choose a framed option at checkout. If you prefer to frame yourself, oak frames for compositions with lighter colours, and walnut/mahogany frames for darker tones are recommended. A 10 to 13 mm (0.4 to 0.51 in) frame width would highlight the delicate nature of the work.

To preserve the original colours and textures of the work it is recommended to use glass for protection, with anti-reflective options like Artglass or similar being advised by the artist.

Alternatively displaying the artwork without protection can highlight natural qualities of paper and the process of ageing, which can be beautiful in itself and a call to let nature take its course, exploring the permanence of idea vs. expression medium. If you choose to display the work without glass protection take extra care not to damage the surface when cleaning, and where possible keeping away from moisture, heating, and direct sunlight.
