Latest Work - Quiet (Line Series)

There’s a line when everything seems to feel right. A little off, and things seem to be not quite how they should. The further away the more difficult it becomes to see it - ever elusive, ever so slight. And yet in moments when everything falls into place, the mind is at rest, and thoughts are clear, resolute and reassuring - we know we found the balance.

The Line series is building on the Fragments series’ foundation of expressing the state of overcoming mental health challenges through a subtle abstract expression of forms and colours detaching, shifting, overlapping, and reconnecting, adding a layer of communication through text. These brief statements reflect the fundamental questions, actions, consequences and decisions that are part of navigating one’s emotions and conflicts.

Fragments Series

Fractured, in Red No. 3 (2022)

Covering up one fracture exposes another. Some are hairline thin, some are glaring. Some fragments are missing. The process of piecing together a whole. What gets exposed is out of our control. Futility of the desire to mend all; pieces through your fingers like sand. However the fragments are rearranged, takes just one out of place to reverberate through the whole.

The Fragments series is reflecting on the challenges of dealing with mental health issues through a subtle abstract expression of forms and colours detaching, shifting, overlapping, and reconnecting. It encapsulates where I am and what I want to say with my practice right now. It also highlights a less explored side of what collage can be and how the paper medium can be used.
